Where the Money Goes


 

The money raised today goes to local groups, particularly the Saturna Community Club.  This event is its only fundraiser each year.  The SCC, formed in 1933, is a registered society which through many volunteers has taken on a host of responsibilities including:

 

  1. Medical:  Ambulance services, housing the ambulance, providing a clinic for health care professionals to provide service for the community as well as purchasing supplies for said clinic.
  2. Cemetery – maintenance & management
  3. Recycling operation – sorts, stores & ships; also Free Store
  4. Library at ground level of church, a “reading room” of the Pender library
  5. Groundwater Protection – seeks to educate, monitors & does research
  6. Maintaining the Community Hall for the use by community members.
  7. Makes grants, if funds are available, to other community organizations.
